BIG, Fat, Logs in the Eyes!

BIG, fat, logs: If you haven't an idea what 'big, fat, logs' are, then, kindly have a second glance at these! Christ Jesus had a somewhat interesting thing to say about logs in the eyes:

"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and behold, a beam is in thine own eye?" | Matthew 7:3-4.

Have you ever tried to drive your car on a cold, frozen wintry morning without first putting on the demister and the inner circulating heater? Not observing these safe driving routines would be absolutely ludicrous. Why? Because the temperature on the outside is at a huge variance with the temperature within the cabin; thus, a thin misty fog appears on your windscreen/shield from the inside, greatly impeding sight!

Issues of life that could jeopardize our destinies' journies emanate from the inside; from the within of us all! Matters of the inside of the heart were - and are - what the Master was teaching the multitudes upon. Jesus had great compassion upon the multitudes that had tenaciously continued with Him in His teachings for days on end. He envisioned them "scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd!" | Matthew 9:36. He had taught first, on the Beautiful Attitudes (the Beatitudes). Then prayer. And on to Almsgiving. Responsible citizenship. False prophets. Marriage, separation, divorce, and re-marriage. He had on faith. On the Golden Rule. On discipleship. On stewardship with money, treasures, and talents. But He never forgot to hold it all down onto the hypocrisies in the deep recesses of the human heart. Halfway through the Gospel of St. Matthew, Jesus hit the nail on the head, h-a-r-d!

"And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”

Then His disciples came and said to Him, 'Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?' "

We read of His response to Peter's inquisitive question:

"Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

These are the things which defile a man ..."

| Matthew 15:10-13; 16-19.

The Savior rendered unto us the access key to defilement. He says, "It is the stuff that comes out of your heart that causes the issues." He started with "evil thoughts." And we all know, ALL proceeds from there, onwards!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said in his famous quote:

"Sow a thought, reap an act. Sow an act, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap a character. Sow a character, reap a destiny!"

In other words, the heart is the incubator of destiny! The wisest man that ever lived apart from the Master Jesus Christ encouraged all mortals to: "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life." | Proverbs 4:23.

What, therefore, do you incubate in the womb of your heart? Jesus says it's much more than the judgmental attitude that you display towards your neighbor/friend, complaining about the tiny speck in their eye when you have refused to remove the blinding big, fat log in your eye that is certain to jeopardize and impeded your journey into fulfilling your destiny!

Wouldn't we be wise to heed the advice of the Master, then?
