"And They Went Forth ..." (Mark 16:20)

After our Lord, Jesus Christ was welcomed into Heaven and having heard the charge from their Master, and while tears streaked down their cheeks as they continued to look into the clouds eclipsing the Risen Lord even in the same way as we watch space-rockets launches from the lunch-pads, grief was swallowed by the hope of resurrection King! The Lord asked them to "wait in Jerusalem until they be endued from power on high" (Luke 24:49). 

And as soon as Pentecost had hit the town, their community-residents knew Someone had come to take residency in the hearts of the disciples: THEIR ENGINES HAD ROARED!  "They went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen"  (Luke 16:20).

Compare the verse of Luke 16:20 with your reality, today! Are you "going", for the Lord? Even in the face of the threats of evil that surrounds us, so, daily? Have you the boldness of the Holy Spirit to roar for the values of Christ? How many weak-minded, ‘born-again’ Christians do you personally know — or have in your close circle of friends, with whom you sit to sip tea or coffee, who simply can’t be bothered to heed the Lord’s call in the GO for Him, and be Christ unto them? This seems to be the voice I'm hearing in my inner heart: “Sammy, go into all the world — preach and witness about Me  to the lost souls!” “Janet, go into all the world — and tell about My restorative  grace that restored you from the domestic, violent, narcissistic abuse you had suffered!”

“Jake, go into all the world — and be My witness of the saving  grace that had saved you from the painful years of substance  and chemical abuse to your generation!”

“Isabella, go, reach the entire world with the talents that I  endowed you with!” Put all your given names here, and address your soul: “______   _______   ______, get up in the name of Jesus! Go into all the world and preach the Good News of Jesus Christ!”  I mean, speak out audibly to yourself! Command your soul to honor the Great Commission! Go forth in the name of the Lord!

THE WEIGHT OF PARTING WORDS?

Have you ever had to listen to anyone's parting words such as a friend returning to their country of origin which you wouldn't be able to go visit for a while? Or lovers' excruciating heartache embedded in unutterable words at parting, not due to their choice but due to that forced upon them by either unwarranted nature, happenstance hitherto unforetold, or by stringent immigration laws? Or even a dying, loved one? Invariably, a dying person’s parting words will always include hints on what they prefer their estate to debut as, after their demise! Parting words may also deliver to attentive hearts, an overt, or a covert expression of hints of their preferable sequence of events at their burial and memorial services! All through the Scripture, we see examples of patriarchs bestowing the blessing upon their posterity years

, months, weeks, and days before their expiration! That was how Godly old and young people had slept on! (I have deliberately chosen to use the word ‘slept’ preferably over ‘died’ because saints of God do not die: They simply transition habitation!) We see precedents of God’s saints’ priceless departures in examples such as in the Patriarchs, in Prime Minister Joseph, in King David, in Prophet Elijah, and even in our Lord, Jesus Christ; just to name a few!  In the classical example of our Lord, He had triumphed over death just fifty days previous. He would first tie up the loose ends of His Earthly mission though before He had finally ascended into Heaven from atop Mount Olivet!

The super-bright clouds of a myriad of Heaven’s angels had patiently awaited the oncoming of the Son of God! They had hardly contained their joy — like little children — Father-God's instruction to them to usher His Son back into glory! The dark clouds had had to hide their faces behind the sheer brightness of Heaven’s radiant Son’s Light. But here was the clause beneath the delay: Nothing would happen without Jesus first declaring His parting words to His teary-eyed, sad-looking, dispirited disciples standing at the base of Mount Olivet | Acts 1:9-11. And when it had been time for Him to address them, the Anointed Son of God had chosen only three sentences comprising sixty-one words to convey His express will unto them. These same words would become His legacy bequeathed unto us, Heaven’s Ambassadors of today — and the oncoming generations, for all eternity! Evangelist Matthew, the Gospel-writer had recorded these as the Risen King had openly, loudly proclaimed: 

“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” | Matthew 28:18-20

Ambassador Mark, being a Roman citizen and having written for his adrenaline-controlled, fellow Italians had recorded Jesus’ address in fewer, action-packed words: “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every  creature"| Mark 16:15-20.

Jesus’ Ambassadorial Corps of the first century had graduated with intuitive hearts and obedient ears. The Scripture confirms: “So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.” | Mark 16:19-20
